Tahlia is a fine name. I knew an Israeli exchange student in high school with the same name. Don't know if its a Hebrew name or not.

You will probably think I'm making this up, but there is a woman print reporter in SoCal with the first name of Vaginal. I saw it on her byline and couldn't believe it, but it's true. This woman was a baby once and that is what her dim bulb of a mother named her. I wonder why she didn't change it when she became an adult????
Ya know what? I believe you....I probably wouldn't, if I didn't have my own tale to tell...

My mom's friend used to volunteer for a hospital doing in-room and home visits with new "at risk" mothers (young, poor, ect) in a very rural area. She was visiting a very young new mom....she asked her what she was going to name the baby and was told "ya know I just hadn't decided on a name....then when I got to the hospital I heard the most beautiful name...I'm gonna name my baby Vagina"

Nope, not kidding. Fortunately for that new baby this woman was able to explaint o the young mother why this was NOT a good choice.

Geesh...during birth is the fist time she heard the word...perfect example of why we need sex ed in schools!!

That would have just made me laugh. LOL. "I want something different." Yeah-you and everybody else in the room.

You're the reason we don't tell anybody our babies names until after they're born. LOL. People usually feel bad about talking badly about the baby's name when they are looking at those cute little faces. My daughter's name is Sabrina though-so nothing freaky.

I had a gym teacher whose used to tell us she was going to name her kids Cream, Rice, and something else I can't remember. Her last name was Puff. She was kidding though.

I had someone (a very unattractive someone) tell me they named their kids after the towns they were conceived. Talk about TMI! FTR I don't recall each kids' name - maybe my brains way of attempting to erase that image from my mind. And I can't imagine what they tell their children about the origin of their names, considering this individual was so inappropriately open with me (keep in mind I did NOT know him that well!).

was it Stay? like the Stay Puff marshmallow man? lol

crazy people...I am a resume writer and see some strange ones, but unless its a 'regional' name ( middle eastern, etc) people usually 'give' themselves a new name, or use an abbreviated form of the name that isn't quite as bad.

Even my hubby, who has a very typical Japanese name, uses a shortened form of it.

And I used to think my name (debbie) was bad....lol

sons name is Nicholaus (yes it's spelled with the AUS on the end). I was researching our family tree and found a named spelled the same way. Hubby picked the name Nicholas first but then I found the unusual spelling. It sounds the same way. A friend of my mother's told her that the spelling that we picked is quite common in Germany.

That's good, as our last name is of German origin, so it fit perfectly, as is sons middle name. Didn't get a lick of the Scottish in his name. Oh well, maybe next kid!
