Any lawyer who would take your case will be making a lot more money than your supposed 3.5 years of back rent.

It sounds to me as though the OP and his/her parents didn't have a very good relationship to begin with, if the mere presence of a hamster is enough for the parents to threaten eviction and the OP to threaten a lawsuit.

Please, OP, for your sake and for the safety of the hamster, move out.

If you shove some shrimp into the curtain rods, they'll never figure out where the smell is coming from.

Is there a reason you are still the at 27 y.o.? Certainly doesn't sound like a loving family relationship to me.

How nice of you to give her ideas to get back at her parents.

Just because the parents don't want a hamster in their home doesn't mean they are unloving parents. I let my kids have hamsters once and soon got rid of them. They kill their own babies!

I just think it's beyond strange that a 27yo girl is so over the moon about a rodent that she's willing to sue her parents over it.

There's a goose out there that's missing the rest of its gaggle.

That was a joke, Convextech. Of course she is being ridiculous.

Sorry, but your mom can't just kick you out. You pay rent which makes you a tenant. She would have to go to court and legally evict you. This hamster is the sign of a much larger problem in your family. If you're paying $500 a month in rent to your parents, why not just get your own apartment? Or find a place looking for a roommate?

As for the hamster, call your coworker and tell her she needs to take the hamster back. Give her a deadline and if she doesn't take it back, then contact a local animal rescue/humane society so you can drop it off.

Not an issue if you only have 1.
