Jesus. Who cares? If you don't want to have kids, don't have kids! If you do, then have them!

Come to me in 30 years and tell me what difference it made as to what you were called during your childbearing years. "Breeder", "Childless", "Childfree".

It's kinda like the importance put on what age the baby rolls over. 1 month? 3 months? 6 months?

In 5, 10, 15, 20 years.....it makes no difference.

Do we really need more stuff to be offended by?

I agree with you completely.

I still can't wrap my head around "childless" being an insult. The suffix -less means 'without'. That's all it means. Without child(ren).

So many people assign very strange (imo) meanings to words these days that simply aren't there. People are SO very, very wrapped up in labels now. Why do people want to compartmentalize so much and get picky about semantics?

I could say the same for about 95% of the internet usage people engage in, starting with this website.

To me it's not offensive if someone called me that. It would lpbevlike someone calling me a cracker. It has no impact.

To most women I bet it's really offensive. If someone doesn't want kids it's fine. But don't demean people who do.

It is offensive and you make a good point. It's actually sexist.

I personally don't take offensive to it (better things to do, IMHO). HOWEVER, I understand that someone USING it means to be offensive and frankly it tells me a whole heck of a lot about the kind of person THEY are. That person would not get 1 second of my time.

That is not why I had my daughter. I don't even particularly like babies.

If someone is insulted, they're insecure whether a parent or not.

I think the term "breeder" is demeaning.

I do think, however, that people shouldn't bring children into this world unless they take seriously the responsibility of raising them. For instance, TV should not be the companion your child spends the most time with.
