Default Selling childrens eggs

My wife has just found out that her ex husband is telling her daughter that she must sell her infertile eggs to pay for her college fees. We are absolutely disgusted by this revelation. When they divorced, my wife let him have the house and all money so that he could make sure there was enough for the childrens future. She left him because he kept commiting adultery and was violent to her. She had been awarded $30,000 for a bad car accident that damaged her spine, but her husband closed their joint account and took the money. Despite the fact he now earns extremely good money and is buying a house for her daughter to live in while she is in college. She has to get friends to live in it with her to pay for his mortgage, so it is a good investment for him and they will pay the mortgage in rent. He is still making her sell her eggs to pay the $10,000 college fees. Is it just me or is this sick. How can anyone make their child sell their unborn babies to pay for their college, even though he can afford to pay for the fees without even feeling it. My wife gave everything so the children would not suffer but now it seems everything isn't enough.

My thought is he can't force her to sell her eggs but he can refuse to pay for college. As disgusting as this man must be, he still has the option to not pay.
That's really sad for that poor girl.

We are disgusted with him. He uses blackmail to try to get out of paying for anything with his children. I just worry that further down the line, my wife's daughter will regret her action and it will come back to haunt her. It may come down to me letting him blackmail us and we will have to pay her fees. He took everything once and now he wants more blood. Just shows that any slime ball can be a "dad" but it doesn't make them a decent father.

Yeah-tell her to fill out the FAFSA and get whatever grants and loans she can. Sucks that he won't help with tuition, but that doesn't mean she has to sell her eggs if she doesn't want to. What an ass of a father. Why is he buying the house instead of paying for tuition? Nevermind-it's because he can make a profit selling the house when she's done with school, right? And he's not going to make anything on her degree? I do know somebody who did donate eggs a few times to help with college expenses, but that was her choice, not her father making her do it.

Exactly and I'm so sorry you all have to go through this especially your step-daughter. Nobody should have force anyone to give away something of ourselves.

Thanks for all the support. We thought we were in crazy land when we heard this. My wife is still trying to get her life back together after the divorce and, as i said, he had already taken everything she had. I found out that the agencys that do this get around the Law by saying that they are not paying for the eggs but for the inconvenience and trouble taken by the donor. I wonder if their is a lower age limit?

I just saw you're in london, so I don't know how the laws are different, but you have to be at least 18 in the US to do it. And they pay pretty well, for the same inconvenience and trouble taken by the donor. And you don't get paid "per egg", so I don't know how much he thinks she's going to make.Did her father even consider what is involved in the process, or did he just see an ad in a paper quoting how much is paid? Idiot. There is a huge application process that is very intrusive regarding the donor's medical and psychological history as well as that of her immediate family. If chosen as a donor, it involves weeks of hormone injections and then the removal procedure. And there is a limit on how often you can go through the cycle. Yeah, she might get paid $7000 a pop, but it costs more than that to go to college. Any consideration of what will happen to his daughter's reproductive future? What are his plans if she doesn't get accepted as a donor? Dropping her off at the local strip joint? I just can't believe this guy. Good luck to you.

regarese--- This is what worries me. I think my wife's daughter thinks that she just pops along to a doctor and hey presto its done. She suffers from ADHD, a heart murmur, dislexia and i think there are other problems in the family. I'm wondering if we can stop this nonsense by making sure that her full medical history is known. She is a good kid but if her Dad says "jump", she says " how high?" He has tried to Blackmail us before over other issues and i'm just wondering what he would do next if we give in this time.

In the UK the selling of Eggs is illegal. British couples go to the USA to get eggs as they cannot do it here.

I didn't know that. Interesting. Hopefully, if she actually goes to do it, once she sees what is involved she will find another way. It's definately not as "easy" as a sperm bank if that's what they are thinking.
