Wanted to know what people thought of cyber bullying and what it is to you. Have you or someone you know been affected by it?

My mom was so terrified of cyber-bullying that she forbade me from talking to girls growing up. The pain that resulted from that was worse than any pain from bullying, so please don't do that with your kids.

Don't do it. Golden rule, don't say anything to someone online you would say in person. Many children are effected by it, including many of my students.

We will be slow to allow the social part of the online world to our kids...partly because of cyber bullying. I need to feel confident they are fully ready to handle it.

My daughter has been taught not to allow anyone to be mean to her in private. Now that she is using more social media, the rule is being extended there as well. It is not fool proof but that little rule weeds out many secret meanies.
