0n a business trip and tonight I went to a restaurant not far from my hotel for a late dinner. Nice restaurant, 8:00 at night, and it was quiet in the restaurant except for three young children who were making a LOT of noise.

I couldn’t see them from where I was sitting but could hear arguing, yelling, and shouting. A couple sitting at the table next to mine called the host over and asked if something could be done, and he told them he would get the manager. Just then two of the kids, maybe 4 and 5 years old, ran past the host, climbed on a booth seat and then stood on the table, jumping up and down on the table trying to grab on to a string of lights that was strung above the booths.

I was ready to leave and as I walked toward the door the third child came toddling around the corner. He was probably around 18 months old and was screeching in an ear-piercing manner. Nonstop screeching.

I got in my car and before I could back up I saw a woman walk out of the restaurant with the screeching toddler. She opened the door of the van parked next to my car, strapped the child in his car seat and then went back inside the restaurant. It was 15 degrees outside, and this was a dark parking lot. I was hoping she would come right back out wth the rest of the family but she did not. Apparently the parents were going to finish their dinner.

What to do? Call 911? Go in and talk to the restaurant manager? Talk to the parents?

I ended up sitting in my car and watching the child until the parents finally came out with the other kids, a good ten minutes or so later.

What would you do? If it had been much longer I was planning to call 911.

You can call the police non-emergency number and report a public disturbance and a child being left alone in a vehicle.

In reality, the car does not get that cold that fast.

If left alone for DAYS, it would get cold, but it's not the same as hot.

I'm assuming the windows were closed?
