Depends on how one defines a porn star.
It is pretty clear when it is someone like Penny Flame but it can get murky if it is someone like Corinne Clery.
Just like how does one define an exotic dancer or a stripper? To many of the world, still, belly dancing is that...which, of course, I would take exception to.
Now, to the question at hand, I think of all the jobs that I wouldn't want to see one do is work for those very active activist organizations which might be terrorist.
I don't have children but I do have young friends who have joined groups like Sea Shepherd. Given my ties and my beliefs, that has put me at certain ends.
Granted, that statement is a lot about me, but it is the way I see the world.
Otherwise, there are various occupations where affairs of the world, such as through social media and politics, make it hard to encourage one to go do it. For all the right reasons one might be a Cop, social media can easily make it a place one might be crucified. If one wants to serve their country, the parent might recommend the Air Force for safety over all other services.
Whatever job it is, it should be a legal job. Hence, in this country, prostitution would for the most part be off the board entirely. Would it be okay if in another country? Well, no, because, IMHO, it is extremely risky in a country that is not home where one's child may not fully understand the laws and customs and how they may be affected.
I don't know which would be worse, being a prostitute in a foreign country or being a mercenary; perhaps at least with being a prostitute, one might be able to return home to the US still a citizen.
Should they be someone like me, when I am doing my security/tactics development/investigative techniques work? Probably not for a few reasons.
The level of knowledge I have in my head of all the terrible things people do to each other is along the lines of what my Mother would call mind pollution. When she told it to me, she was more talking of movies of the time that were ugliness for ugly sake (these days I think of SAW) but it would also apply to reading all those true crime books. I do it because it is my profession but it is not the of library I would wish on another.
I think, at times, in devious ways that rather shocks others that I would think like that. To me, it is about "getting into the head of a general of an opposing army", to see the world as an opposer would, and so forth. It is probably better that I am never to marry, that such things fit into my solitary life, but is such the occupation, its spillover the kind of thing one wants for their child? That, however, is just me for people like famed FBI profiler John Douglas has a family, so it may be possible. On the other hand, the physical, life threatening crash he went through due to work stress would be something to keep in mind.
Finally, any job that is selected should be one decided on reasonable thought and not the romanticism that was told by others.
