My husband and I want to go tomorrow and just walk around in the 45 degree weather. Get some exercise and get rid of stress and my coworker tells me without kids it looks very strange. Now I’m all paranoid.

That's ridiculous. Someone is overly concerned with the opinions of others - now maybe if you went to playgrounds to hang out...

I used to go places with lots of kids when my wife wanted to get pregnant so she could see how much of a PIA they could be.

What sad times we live in.

What a ridiculous comment, I would have replied "the only thing weird is what you just said".

My husband and I have reached a stage of life where our kids are adults and don't want to spend 'family time', but we don't have grandkids yet, and with any luck won't for at least 5 more years. Doesn't stop us from going to zoos.

Not weird at all. Unless you are following kids and offering to give them candy I think you are fine.

My husband and I went to a couple children's museums before kids. There they would take a copy of our drivers licenses...but that is a different place really meant for kids (btw, we had a blast and didn't feel weird at all). The zoo...there are lots of adults without kids.

I’d go and not think twice. And really who cares what anyone thinks?

That's silly. Go have fun. I go to the zoo all the time and see families, singles and couples.

I hate that zoos (and a million other things) have become kid-centric. I feel for the poor animals putting up with all that screeching and chaos and the way the facility bleeds parents for money on behalf of the kids. Zoos and other such institutions used to be for educational as well as recreational purposes, weren't age-specific, and didn't aim to "amuse." In fact, I see a lack of respect for the wildlife from kids and no one correcting them. I limit my visits to zoos and aquariums to major holidays when I know they will be relatively kid-free. Even weekdays aren't safe from school groups.
