Seriously we need to dial this back to reality.
Your reality is different from mine. I don't know anyone who did not always know how they were sourced, so to speak.

I could make a lot of statements about this...but I am going to just go to ground 0.

Yes...yes a child is entitled to the pertinent information about their origins. I am not talking about what position were they conceived in. But genetics, including adoption or egg donation or an affair on the side. This information belongs to the child...not the adult.

Sorry if you are back in the 1950s and don't understand that.

Oh please...not all of us are so rocked by knowing that their history is not what they assumed. Some people can't handle it. Others roll with it. I have no judgement. But really. At some point you have to incorporate this information into how you present your adult self. I can recommend a great therapist if you send me a private message.

Rude much?

What have you learned that rocked your world that you are denying how it impacted you?

Give me a break. You clearly aren't educated on this topic. Buh-bye

Some of us don't let our childhood interrupt our adult experience. Moderator cut: deleted

Big secrets are a burden on mothers, at the very least. Eventually, the information will get leaked.

She should have told her a long time ago. Lots of stories lately of people doing the ancestry-type DNA tests only to find out they were adopted or that dad is not their real dad, etc. She's going to find out eventually; it should come from her parents.

Probably, but maybe not to the daughter. You'd be surprised how families can keep secrets, and how some people can know and some don't. My mom's sister "had to get married" as they used to say. Married in March, my cousin was born in October. For some reason, the parents told my cousin they got married in January. She threw them a 50th anniversary party one January. It wasn't until one of them died that cuz found out the truth. What a time to do so! Meanwhile, my mom told me when I was about 17, so I knew and assumed my cousin knew.

OTOH, my dad always said he was in "the Navy". I found out at his funeral, sitting in the pew, that he was actually in the Merchant Marine! Why my parents didn't tell my bro and me that, I have no idea. I don't know what was the shame of Merchant Marine.
