I got caught shoplifting, my parents said they don't want to see me go to jail, so are punishing me severely, they have sentenced me to 2 weeks imprisonment, I am confined to my room and my bedroom door is locked, we are having a heatwave and I have been SHUT away in my room for 4 days, I am BORED , FED UP and VERY miserable, because its so hot and sunny I asked my parents if I could go and sit in the garden for a couple of hours, they said NO NO NO my punishment is to have my freedom taken away which means NO going out and that's the end of it I have stay in my room and my bedroom door stays locked.

IS THIS PUNISHMENT FAIR ?

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD BE ALLOWED OUT INTO THE GARDEN ?

If you're bored now, wait til they take away your internet access. The only reason you should be allowed into the garden is to work in it.

Fair, and fairly lenient in my view. But if you're really desperate to get out of your room, why don't you offer to do all the household chores for the 2 week sentence? Still on house arrest of course, no working on the suntan outdoors.

You could be out in the yard pulling weeds by hand. And...no internet.

we are having a heatwave and I am looking out of my bedroom window looking at my sister sunbathing in the garden, I WANT to go out but my bedroom door is locked, parents said my punishment is loss of freedom, and that means NO going out of any kind, I am SO SO miserable, WHY NO SYMPATHY ?

Because we're all hoping it's harsh enough so you won't steal again. Your parents are worried sick.

Have you asked for books?

Maybe you should have thought of this before you shoplifted...

It is not how I would discipline my child but each parent has the right to discipline as they see fit. I hope this means you have learned your lesson and won’t do it again. Try talking to your parents and explaining what you have learned, how sorry you are and ask if you can leave your room to do chores or earn you freedom back by doing chores. You made a bad decision and are now stuck with the consequences unfortunately.
