I have tried waking her, not allowing drinks past 7:00 (her bedtime is 8:30), only allowing sips of a drink, making her go before bed and having her help me with the bedding and nothing has helped. I just don't know what else to do. The laundry is killing me and there are times where I am changing sheets twice in a night! Up until a month ago, I was buying pull ups and while the largest ones still fit her, they just don't make it through the night and I still end up with a wet bed. I moved up to the goodnites thinking because they were made for older kids they would be better but that was not the case. Not only did they not work but they cost more than the pull ups and you get less in a pack!
I don't know if its a good thing but it doesn't really bother her that she does it. She hates waking up in a wet bed every morning but her still wetting the bed at her age doesn't phase or embarrass her her one bit if that makes sense. I am beginning to dread mornings with her because most mornings I have to deal with her being upset and having a fit because I am asking her to help me with her bedding. Usually she will flat out refuse to help and it gets to a point where I am late getting her to school on time.
I am hoping someone else here is going through this with their older one and could offer some suggestions. I just cant handle all the extra laundry and having to argue with her over this every morning.

Thank you everyone,
Laura
Has she always wet the bed--i.e., has she been wetting the bed nonstop for 8 years?

Op any update?

Your daughter sounds just like my boys. They have never had a dry night. We are not surprised at the bed wetting though DH and his brothers wet the bed till 11-12 years old. For this reason we don't make a big deal about it, it's part of life, and we know they have no control over it and one day they will be dry, most likely several years from now. While we have tried waking them up in the night, alarms, etc. All it did was stress everyone out so each of the times we have tried these things pretty quickly we just go back to letting them sleep and not worry about it. Like your daughter my boys just don't want to wake up to wet bedding. In there mind they didn't wet the bed unless the actual bed gets wet, wet diapers don't count. Lol but hey I'm kinda glad because if it bothered them that there diaper was wet they would be upset every day. I know you said your daughter still fit in pull ups and the goodnites were a little big and they leak all the time. Sounds like she is same size as my oldest. Does she move around a lot in her sleep, and sleep on her side? We have tried pull ups, goodnites, and underjams and they all leaked, even tried adding a doubler but still leaked which made my boys very upset. Each time we try those we go back to regular size 6 and 7 diapers and no, or very very few leaks. If she is more upset about her actual bedding getting wet and doesn't care that the pull up is wet, I would try regular diapers. I think you just can't get pull ups to fit right around the legs is why they leak. Sorry for the long post it just sounds like she is in the same situation as my boys and this is what works for us. Good luck.

My sisters husband wet the bead until he was 16 years old. No one knows why. Now their son wets the bed and he's 5. I wonder if you can get a prescription for some diapers for her from your physician? Seems your health plan could cover that since it is a medical issue, even if they cannot diagnose it.

Thrift stores often have much cheaper diapers but they are adult sized. Hospice, Cancer thrift stores. Especially on their half off days. Oops I did it again, responding to an old thread. Oh well.

Something about waking up when they should be sleeping causes an enzyme to kick in, and they stop having to go over night. I think it took less than a week, and he's only ever been wet at night maybe once since then (7 years).
Absolutely. No kid WANTS to wet the bed. It is embarrassing and uncomfortable.

I was a bed wetter and so was my son. Luckily 20+ years ago they invented these sensors.
