BAYTOWN, Texas — A baby born to a 14-year-old mother in a restroom at her junior high was alive at birth, dying only after she tried to flush it down the toilet, officials said Thursday.
Police also announced Thursday that the baby born Wednesday was a boy.
That's sad, you'd think nowadays young people would see there are other options to unwanted pregnancies. It's sad when you have to resort to that and you see no other way out.
If she only could have left the baby at a hospital or some place to be found instead of that. She's really has a tough time coming up....and she has to live with that now. Who knows what type life she had at home, it's not regular judgment that makes a person panic like that.
what in the world! dont they have sex ed at these schools? 14 years old is SO young to be having sex let alone getting pregnant. and HOW is it always that no one knew. people cant tell when someone is pregnant? her parents never noticed?
it's not the first story i have heard and yet it never ceaces to shock me.

I can't agree more...when are we going to wake up and realize REAL education is the key. Abstinence is great, but you can't have that as the ONLY education being provided. I read some article the other day where some kids thought drinking mountain dew would keep them from getting pregnant. Seriously?!

yes they had a Dr. Phil show about education vs, teaching only abstinence. it was a fiasco. one guy was "teaching" them abstinence, where in fact one of his students argued he was just trying to scare them into not having sex, and never taught them anything about birth control or any sort of sex education.
Where is it written that it is the responsibility of the SCHOOL to teach the little darlings to keep it in their pants and keep their legs together.....isn't this FIRST the responsibility of the parent/guardian?????
Raising a 16 yr old G'son....and YES he and G'friend are active....[can't stop the raging hormones] BUT they were TAUGHT [and use] all of the methods of birth control and all of the responsibilities that go with a mistake......

yes the parents do have a resposibility to talk to their kids about it--but they dont. i am assuming they are uncomfortable talking to their own kids, or they prefer a teacher to talk to them, or maybe they think that if they dont talk about it then the kids wont do it--who knows.
