Hmm, I found this definition of Oblina

"oblžna f (Cyrillic spelling облѝна)

Roundness, plumpness (especially of female body, i.e. breasts and buttocks)
Curve, round part"

Of course, this is the Croatian variation of the word. With that meaning, I guess it could be considered a "female" name (but not in a good way). However, I don't think it sounds very feminine - it just seems like a very awkward name.

I think it's an awful name. If you want her to be called Lina, just name her Lina.

I can hear it now. Oblina Vagina. Did you look up the name? It is a character from "Real Monsters".

Linnea like in Linnea in Monet's Garden. It's a book for children.

The girl's name is based on Carl Linnaeus' name. He was a Swedish botanist.

However, it is at least a real name and not a trash monster's name.

Lina could be her nickname. Normally, Lina is a nickname for Angelina, Evangelina, Carolina or Melina.

I don't care for it. With all the names available, why choose something that sounds like a prescription drug?

"Aaahh! Real Monsters" was not made by Disney. It was made by Nickelodeon and Klasky Csupo.

Just saying.

If I were your child and were named that, I would be resentful over a name that I had no control of until I was old enough to get it legally changed. Name her something where she can happily fit in with her peers as she is growing up and not be singled out or made fun of.
