I’m talking about the ones in LA, NY, or Chicago. I’ve been to the one in NY and while fun. It’s not a place for kids with the nudity etc....your thoughts? My cousins daughter (who is gay) was chosen for one. My other relative told her it’s great she out and is an advocate in her town etc....but those huge Pride parades are not a place for kids. She was angry.
Her kid, her choice. My guess is a 12 year old has seen nudity before.
And what the heck is "has a gay being an advocate?" That's like saying she has a "fill in the blank race/color/religion" being an advocate.
Are you thinking about this as it seems a bit too coincidental to me that the girls are the same age?
And btw--I'm familiar with both of these towns/cities. Lived in one for 8/9 years. Pretty sure there wasn't nudity involved in either parade.
How can a 12 year old be already labeled as gay or straight? At that age we are just learning about sexuality. Who would slap a label on so young and then have a kid be an advocate for it? Give her at least to 18 or 21 and let her label for herself what she is and let her advocate what she wants to advocate for as an adult.

its unlikely that you were unaware of the opposite sex until you were 21. She may grow and change later but by 12 I knew I liked boys. (im a female btw) so its perfectly reasonable that a 12 year old would know she likes girls

Liking girls at 12 does not mean she is gay. She coud be bi. She could be curious. She could still be straight! Don't label kids at 12. I think it's bad parenting. Let kids grow up and decide for themselves! We are supposed to support our kids, not label their sexuality at 12 years old for them.

Don't know about Chicago or LA but NYC has men in latex body suits with the outlines of their bodies clearly visible. Fake male and female parts as well as lollipops and balloons in explicit shapes. Signs that are explicit. it is not a kid friendly event
