We have always used family for babysitting but have an event coming up that we need to find a regular babysitter for my 3 boys, 2, 4, & 8. The older 2 still wet the bed and are in diapers at night. Pull ups/ underjams leak which they hate, so we still put them in diapers before bed. My question is, is it appropriate to ask a babysitter to diaper the older 2? Or would it be better to wait till we get home and hope they haven't wet yet? Asked my SIL and she see's no issue with it but I'm just not sure. I really don't think they boys would care as it's been a regular part of there routine forever.

No on the older one, for sure.

Can they put themselves in pull ups and you swap that out when you get home?

Yes they can, we actually tried underjams again a few weeks ago to see if they would not leak but they did. However maybe we should do that just till we get home.

I don't think the 4 year old would care but I would think the 8 year old might be uncomfortable with someone other than family putting a diaper on him. We have bed wetting children in our family. They are usually heavy sleepers. There are many reasons for bed wetting but it might help if you don't give them dairy (milk) beyond lunch. Also, a handle full of raisins after supper help absorb liquid in their system.

He might be, he's not modest at all at home or at my SIL's house. But yea a new person could be different. They are super heavy sleepers, nothing wakes them when they are out. Bed wetting is hereditary in our family, so we are not surprised by it and pretty sure they will outgrow it around 11. I have never heard of the raisin trick. I appreciate that.

Wow. Interesting. I googled that, and came up with "two walnuts and a handful of raisins" will help a child not wet the bed.

Who knew?

No no no of the stranger diapering an 8 year old

Tell them not to drink or eat while you are gone

Let the kids leak and you can clean it up later.

No harm, no foul, less risk.

Well we really lucked out. I was talking to a neighbor and they said they would love to have the boys stay the night! This is great. They are a very sweet family that we have known for several years with a couple older kids. She said her daughter was wanting to start babysitting so this would be great practice while she would be right there with her to help. I told her about the bed wetting and she said not to worry about it, it was no big deal. They would handle it. If fact she asked if they would like to come over tonight and let me and DH have a dinner date! WooHoo

Wow, that is quite amazing, and unusual.

Lucky you!
