Exactly. I have always had gay male friends and found drag and other "aping" of women very hostile. I don't get it at all.

I'm fine with it, and it would be a good opportunity to talk to the children about people being different. Plus, if it offends someone, it is not mandatory, and easy to avoid.

The ad said it is to celebrate diversity and self expression. If kids just think it’s a clown then what is the point of celebrating diversity.

It seems a little odd, but anything that increases interest in books and reading is a good thing. If there were an event near me and my kids were the right age (they're too old now), I'd take them.
