I'm looking for a CD player for my 2 yr old. Thought he might like to control his own music and am tired of him breaking my home stereo. Only can find junk CD players for 3 and up. Ideas, anyone?

Ipod Shuffle (or other cheap MP3 equivalent). Ebay for a bargain.

No moving parts
Small
Easy to use
Fairly durable
Can take existing CD's and copy tracks onto it

I got my son a Play it Now! secondhand. More durable than an iPod, and cheaper, too. He can control the music on it, and skip the songs he doesn't ant to hear. It only holds 30 minutes of music, but that's perfect for him. Just a thought...

Toys R Us has Dora The Explorer, and Go Diego Go, CD players for kids. They are in the shape of a canteen and play regular cds and cd r. They would be good for a 2 year old and they also have an adjustable strap, but depending on your child you may or may not want to remove it. Here is the link for the Go Diego Go one Go, Diego, Go! CD Player - Memorex - Toys "R" Us

Hope that helps you some.

We purchased an alarm clock that included a cd player on it. It was larger than the typical cd player so it's not broken as easily (partially because he is unable to tote it around), included fairly large buttons (easy for the kiddo to push), and served multiple purposes (teaching time, waking him up later on, etc.). He's enjoyed it since he was around 2 (now close to 8) and we've never heard a complaint (or had to replace it).
