You're a good man. I do wish people could stop harassing childfree people and accept us for who we are.

When I was younger, I got harassed by people with kids thinking that I was odd for not wanting to be a mother. Moderator cut: partial cut they think that their choices are the only valid ones.

Moderator cut: partial cut Dogs can break stuff, crap on the carpet, chew things, etc. but I would rather a dog then a kid. Dogs are fun and not annoying.

I do not understand the point, reason, logic behind having kids. All I know is if whomever wants them if the first THOUGHT that comes into play is oh I will not be lonely anymore DO NOT GO THROUGH WITH IT. So help me god I am so sick and tired of being obligated for every pissing holiday. I am not talking about just xmas and thanksgiving. No every freakin' last one of them from veterans to arbor day I have to show up and eat bbq. I HATE BBQ! Sorry for the rant but yeah..

....not to hijack this thread but since we are on the subject of kids I wonder if some have ever felt isolated from their friends with kids? I have a girlfriend of mine, she is one of my very best friends- a good person. Well kids was on her agenda very late like when she was through with med school. Well, she and her hubby got pregnant. To make a long story short its not like it was before. The few times we get to "catch up" and meet up for lunch or dinner she almost always has to bring the kid. I don't mind well behaved kids but she is not even 2 yet and of course she is just a baby. The whole time I am trying to catch her up and relax is backed up with stop, don't do that, do this, do that. The kid needs to be changed, needs this and that. Before I know it my girls chat session has become nothing but me listening to her and watching her be, well, a mother. And we get nothing accomplished. I respect it. No problem, I just miss my friend. Its frustrating and it would be nice for her to be able to leave the kid at home and enjoy herself and her friends. I have also seen people seek other copuples with kids, like the friends they had without hubbys and kids are not good enough. I am also the one that is not married and of course the dynamics are different and we don't have girls night anymore. Just a thought.

Wow. When I read threads like this, I just have to remind myself that there are some REALLY angry people out there.

You know, children aren't my problem, its the parents who judge the childfree. Because of this, parents are my biggest problem and worst nightmare!

It's people like you who the op is talking about. Judging and coming up with various reasons why he doesn't want a kid. Thing is it has NOTHING to do with maturity or patience it has EVERYTHING to do with personal preference. Because he doesn't want to breed doesn't make him any less mature or patient then anyone else.
