News, Sex Offender's Attacker: 'I Would Do It Again' (parents, girl, children)

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A woman who police said assaulted a sex offender with a baseball bat said," I'd do it again if I had to," reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

After learning that her Puyallup neighbor, 24-year-old William Baldwin, was a convicted level 3 sex offender from a flyer she received from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, Tammy Gibson said, "I lost my mind."

Gibson said she often saw the 7 feet 3 inches tall Baldwin talking with her 10-year-old daughter."Last year, on the Fourth of July, he was talking to my daughter. I got the flyer in the mail and I snapped. I went nuts," Gibson told McCarty.Gibson said she once told her live-in boyfriend she thought Baldwin was harmless, but said all that changed when she got the flyer that listed Baldwin's conviction on two counts of first-degree child molestation in 1999 as well as other offenses. The flyer states that Baldwin lured a 5-year-old girl into a doghouse in his backyard and sexually assaulted her. That crime was committed while he was on parole for another sexual assault in which he forced a different 5- year-old girl into a sex act with him.

I know she attacked first but if I saw a convicted sex offender talk to my 5 year old I would sure as hell threaten him with violence to stay away from my child

Threaten is one thing but doing it before anything had happened is quite another.
Sounds like the mom has issues that could use a "graybar hotel" time out for a while.

I don't agree with what Gibson did in the past, eventhough it doesn't really say, what kind of sexual abuse he did, but there are many on the sex offenders list that shouldn't be. I am not saying he shouldn't be on it.

Um, it did say that there were TWO incidents with FIVE YEAR OLD CHILDREN. What difference does it make as to what "kind" of abuse? What else do you need to know???????

Having said that, I don't agree with this woman's actions. I understand her fear and outrage but it doesn't justify this "preemptive strike". What good has it done her kids??

As a mom of two, I do have to say I don't agree with her actions. Understand them....yes, I have to say I do. What she probably did was out of fear, and it was probably supposed to be a message to "stay away from my child, or you'll get worse". Still wrong. I would definitely have spoken to my child, and even spoken to him, and got a restraining order just based on his previous record. Then, if he DID touch my child, I would have beaten him senseless with the bat.

I am just saying some sexual abuse maybe not harm the child, in some cases they even enjoyed it, but they are later harm by the actions of their own parents or officials, by other an over reaction and making the child know they are a victim. I am not saying the abuse in itself was good, I am saying some can live an normal life even after the abuse, but don't because of the actions or over reactions of people who want to help the child.

You can't treat every child the same way, cause every child is different.
In the same way you don't want to create low self esteem on child, even after an abuse where the child wasn't harm either physically, emotionally and psychologically by the abuse. I seen it happen before, an in most case the child couldn't have live a better life even after the abuse.

Anyway It doesn't say much about what he did to the 2 children, before that. Could be from just exposing himself or touching private part to forcefully rape. A minor abuse doesn't always cause harm, even as dirty it looks. That is why I am saying they should give us more details on what really happens. In most cause u read in the news they use big words to get people mad, but still are very vague when talking of the actual abuse.

Are you for real??? Maybe you should write your congressman and let him know that you feel the laws should be tailor made for the sex offenders who pick the children who enjoy it! There is one group in particular that feels the same way...I believe they go by NAMBLA. In case you are not familiar, it stands for North American Man Boy Love Association and their motto is "Eight is too late".

You must not have children to spout off things about children enjoying something they are not able to handle, physically or emotionally.
