When I taught I got lice too! Teachers should wear their hair up. It happens and the school I taught at did school head checks after every break, it happens. Some kids can't seem to rid the infestation if the parents don't do thorough cleaning. It took me 3 days of nonstop cleaning. Car, all laundry, homes, blankets, pillows, hair combs, etc. Takes a long time to get everything thoroughly cleaned and next time you can't get upset. It just happens.

*itch* *itch* *itch* Geez, all you have to do is say lice to get me scratching! When I taught school I had kids and parents coming in with it, big infestation. It was horrible. The parents would keep bringing their kids back with live bugs in their hair! ewww memories. It took a good month to get every kid lice free. I burned my scalp because I treated myself just in case I had it. Left the stuff on for an hour!

When my son was in kindergarten the whole class had them and my son got them.
A friend of mine said when her husband found out he said ,
" I didn't think they were like that " LOL (and he was educated)

Some people still think they only infest dirty people & dirty homes.

Lice always have been, and always will be a sporatic problem unless some miracle "lice begone" formula is invented to wipe them out.
My kids are grown but I remember when we had a couple episodes of lice infestations when they were in school.
When we went to get the stuff to treat it with I remarked to the pharmicist (sp?) that I thought only people who didn't practice good personal hygiene could get them. He told me that didn't have anything to do with it. He said tests actually showed lice were more prone to infect clean scalps and hair than unwashed ones.
So don't feel ashamed if you have had an encounter with them.
It can happen to anyone no matter how clean they keep themselves.
They are a nuisance to deal with but a part of life it seems.

I agree... our cleanest child is one of the lice-prone kids!

ACTUALLY Lice prefer a clean head. You would think it is the other way around...

Yeah, it's a real esteem killer for her... but I guess it's not gonna hurt to be knocked down a few notches once in a while. It's been several years, though, thank God!

I guess it's easier for the lice to slip between clean hair than dirty or oily hair... Go figure!

Consider yourself lucky, reese. The foster child we had was a fire starter and an animal killer. I'd rather deal with the lice.
