Our 9 y/o DD's birthday party is on Sunday afternoon and tomorrow I need to do party favors. It is a bit complicated because she is having both boys and girls, ages 6 to 10. She is the softball queen so that is pretty much the theme, but it is a pool and water slide party so summer is kind of a theme too. I do not like to do little bags of the junky stuff like candy and trinkets. For the past two years we did the less expensive school supplies like crayons and glue sticks and I know the parents appreciated it and kids seemed to enjoy it as well since this time of year they do get excited about going back, but I was trying to think of something different. Any ideas?
At that age the favorite thing we gave out was a flashlight and batteries. If we found a fun book to go with that, great, if not, what kid doesn't like a flashlight?
Yeah, I think the pool toys would be perfect, going with the theme. Have fun
I have to say, I get so tired of these "party bags" and "party favors" that you feel obligated to give to kids just for coming to the party. I can't wait till this trend dies out. Remember when we used to go to parties and not expect anything to take home with us? We'd go, expecting to play and have cake and ice cream. Who started these dumb party bags anyway, ack!
There is a site I have checked in the past for my son's birthdays. People write in with what they did for the birthday, including decorations, games, food, and treat bags. A lot of them go way overboard, but its still neat to look at and can give some good ideas. Beware--it always seems to suck me in! Anyhow, they have just about any kind of party theme listed (and usually 20 of the same theme!). Here is the website: www.birthdaypartyideas.com
Walmart has really inexpensive gift bag stuffer in the party isle.. activity books, tops, yo yos, sunglasses, straws... universally accepted kids stuff...
Sunglasses, squirt guns, bubbles are all things they can take out and play with right then with all the water activities. Add in a sucker or gum and you should be all set.
