JERUSALEM - Israeli airport police say a couple going on a European vacation remembered to bring their duty-free shopping and their 18 suitcases, but forgot their 3-year-old daughter at the airport.

The couple and their five children were late for a flight to Paris Sunday and made a mad dash to the gate. In the confusion, their daughter got lost. A policeman found her wandering around the terminal, crying for her mother.

So, to point to another thread, I'd say 4 would've been the maximum number of children the family in this story could handle.

I really think there needs to be international law that everyone has to pass an aptitude test prior to being allowed to procreate.

There are no parenting guides, but damn
how the hell do you forget your children at airports? I'd be willing to bet that they were the snobby type to look down on their noses on those who couldn't afford to go on European trips.

I saw it this morning. Okay, we only have two kids, but in a crowded airport, when you have a lot of luggage, I can see that it's hard to keep track of that many kids. If you're going to have and travel with that many, you'd better have a good system in place so things like this don't happen. Assign little ones to older ones, Do the head count before you board. Decide which kid you will grab if you have to make a sprint to the gate.

I'm still incredulous that they didn't think to check on their 3 yo before boarding.

I don't care what kind of a rush you are in.............it is inexcusable to "forget" about your child.

This is ridiculous. No matter how busy any place is, you wouldn't "forget" your child. Home Alone anyone ;-)

It was moderately amusing as a movie plot (Home Alone, as Jessie mentioned above). It's sad and, in my opinion, inexcusable as real life. Fast forward 10 years. Imagine our now-13-year-old, who has no-doubt heard and seen the story of her being "forgotten" even though the luggage was carefully accounted for. It will take a lot of work to repair this...

Ok, I just read the rest of the story. The flight had been underway for a full 40 minutes and the parents STILL didn't notice they were short one child??? They had to be TOLD, "Hey, y'all know you left a kid back at the terminal?" I'm disgusted.

They didn't notice that one of their children was missing after being in the air for 40 minutes. They had to be told by the airline, they didn't even notice. No excuse, absolutely none. That's disgusting.
