First, let me say that I know there is a statement on the bottom of the menu that states "Subject to change without notice".

When they have THREE entree choices listed and only one of the three is offered, it gets annoying. This happens more often than not.

I'm trying to teach my children to make decisions, budget their time, etc. We look through the school lunch menu for the month and they decide whether they are buying or packing lunch that day. If they are packing, they know they have to allow extra time in the morning or the night before to get their stuff ready. It also means that they can buy school breakfast if they want. If they are buying school lunch, they need to eat breakfast at home. They can choose to buy lunch up to 3 times per week.

Lunch is $1.50 now. We do not qualify for free or reduced lunch. So when my children come home and say that they bought lunch but it wasn't what was on the menu, it is frustrating - especially when it's something that they don't like in place of the item they were looking forward to.

Has anyone else experienced this? What have you done? Was it successful? LOL Thanks in advance!

Could it be that they are having one of the later lunches and the cafeteria has run out of some of the choices by the time they get there?

That is a common issue at all the schools around here, especially when they offer more than one choice. The earlier you eat the more choices you have, even with drink choices.
My 5th grader eats as one of the last groups of the day and often they don't have any strawberry milk left, which is the only one she actually likes to drink.

I'd love to pay $1.50 for lunch...it's $2.00 here!
