Default Visitation rights without a lawyer, how?

How would a support paying parent establish visitation rights through the court without a lawyer? proper paperwork or documents? Any knowledge appreciated.

In PA the two are totally separate. If you have a support order though - you'll have an easier time getting visitation. I would never go through all of it without a lawyer though - good luck!

I'd definitely look online at your state and county court websites, you will usually find a wealth of information on what forms to file, procedures, etc.

My advice is...Get a Lawyer. Go through the court system. Unless you and the other party can agree on a visitation plan together that is unofficial, you just gotta. AND when my (ex)husband and I did that before we went to court, even though it was notarized and everything, my lawyer told me it wasn't worth the paper it was written on. It has to be court ordered or it cannot be enforced. Good Luck.

If the other parent is going to oppose visitation, then you need a lawyer.

If the other parent is going to agree to a visitation schedule, you would probably need to file a petition to modify a custody order and state why visitation would be in the child's best interest.

There may be free legal aid offices in your city/county/state which provide help for pro se parties. They would tell you what forms to file and how to fill them out, but would not represent you in court. I would look for one of these as a starting point.

But again, if the other side is going to contest visitation: GET A LAWYER!

Exclamation Looking for help on "Fixed Visitation"!!

I guess everyone is logged off. Whenever someone can answer:

Has it ever worked for anyone, who's tried to establish fixed visitation rights with their child? If so, what were the steps you went through, forms you filled out and any advice you would have regarding this situation. Regarding the child, support is bring provided on a regular bases, "reasonable visitation" is not working at all. Please if anyone has any addition information on this situation, reply as soon as possible.

Thanks for any help anyone can provided.

it all really does vary from state to state...and even then, it can also come down to what judge you get! We did a total revise of visitation when my husband and I moved 5hrs away from my daughters biofather. We initiated mediation services, did the parenting classes before the judge even told us to, and wrote up a very reasonable visitation order. It took about 5 rewrites before my ex finally agreed to it, we all went to court w/the papers, and the judge read it over, talked to us both, and signed it. We did a lot of it on our own, but we were revising, not establishing, so im not sure how things would be for you.
you might try calling around to some local family lawyers. Some will give free consoltations.
good luck!
