We are not big tv watcher but when we do I am always surprised by the ads! And it seems folks are numb to the fact that we are selling sex to kids...sick.

I totally agree with you - and would add that the sitcoms are very raunchy not too, most of them talking openly about sex. Even the commercials for sitcoms have sex in them! There's no way to avoid it other than turning off the TV.
I'd like to see all the drug commercials banned. Really, who goes to their doctor asking for preseciptions to drugs? "Hey Doc! I think I have PAD, ED, restless leg, and I can't sleep. Load me up!"

Sadly, it's not just those types of commercials. You also see sex exposed in the wrong way I believe on plenty of recent sitcoms and tv shows in general. The characters usually all have sex with eachother at some point, not shown on TV but the idea that they did is presented. And of course nothing ever bad really happens.
TV can be very healthy when watching the right stuff, and very damaging especially in this day and age. Good thread.

And I really hated those Enzyte commercials with that dumbass Bob guy and his pathetic looking wife. Oh, and Valtrex - she's got herpes (or syphillus or gonerreah, or whatever!) and he doesn't. I think by now we've all got the picture - we can go to our doctors if we need any of these wonderful drugs for our sexual ailments.

OMG, I KNOW ! ! ! They started out with Nexium 'the little purple pill', and prescription drug selling has grown into a MONSTER ! ! !
What's really bad, is half the time, I can't even figure out what some of those drugs are for.

Maybe the ratings board in your state? I don't know. I have called the local TV Network and complained, not that it did any good.

I think the FCC. There was a commercial on a few years ago for a detergent for automatic dishwashers that featured a mouth on the door of the washer 'drinking' the liquid. I made calls to the networks AND manufacturer and asked how they would like a lawsuit from a parent whose toddler drank that liquid because it looked so animated and fun on the commercials. About 2 weeks later the commercials disappeared. They re-appeared a year or so later with it changed so it doesn't show so much the mouth 'drinking' anymore. People CAN make a difference.

I don't know who lives like that. We don't even watch sitcoms anymore because all they do is talk about sex and alcohol. According to them, all young adults do is have sex and drink.

I agree. Some of those drugs advertised I can't even figure out what they're for.

Right, but we can choose to watch a show or choose not to. What I hate even more than the sex on shows, is we can't control when the commercials come on selling sex. They're on at 9a on Sunday mornings and all day long. You never know when those things will pop up.

Of course, my point though is TV these days is saturated with this stuff. And for example you could have your children watching a show you feel is OK for the entire family, but a commercial that you mentioned will come on. It's definitely annoying.

You'd think that was all anybody did these days; sex and drink, sex and drink. I'd be so sick if that's all I did. I can't think of even one sitcom that doesn't refer to, or focus on sex and alcohol.
We don't even watch sitcoms anymore because of that. It got very boring.

Oh, I am so with you on this one. My girls are 9 and 6 and we rarely watch T.V. You can set the Parental Controls but the commercials will defeat this safeguard. I don't even watch the news anymore. Just check Yahoo news on my laptop every morning. Its really a sad state of affairs...
