Twos are aggravating. That's their job. Your job is to turn him into a creature that the rest of the world can stand-- luckily, you get sixteen years to finish it.
I'm not going to come down on either side of the spanking debate. I will suggest Ames & Ilg's book series ("your Two Year Old...", "Your Three Year Old..."), which are really the best ones I've seen. I kinda like "1-2-3 Magic", too, but I'll warn you that for years my eldest daughter thought I couldn't count to four.
