my baby has teeth. If they are truely hungry, they are eating not biting. I have many friends and family members who nurse/ed and they NEVER had a problem with teeth.
I know many women who fear getting bit by their baby once the teeth come in. I was really scared of this as well but have found through experience that it really isn't the big deal that I thought it would be. Yes, I've been bit a few times. Babies learn not to bite and Mom's learn how to predict and avoid biting. Taboo, did you personally have bad experiences with getting bit? If I remember correctly you stated in a previous thread that you gave your dd pumped breastmilk in a bottle for 6 months. Did you also breastfeed?
Actually, I don't know what YOUR point is????????????
Someone posted something about teeth and "ouch"
I was just stating from experience and people I know that teeth are NOT a problem when nursing.
My point is, you don't know every woman who has ever breastfed and that many of us have experienced BITING and that is when the breastfeeding is likely to STOP whatever their age.
I think making blanket statements about a subject such as this one is not smart.

I did it all baby. I have more than 1 kid with yet another on the way. Each child is different which means each experience will be different.

I think NOT reading and fully understanding posts is most likely an accident in your case.
I NEVER made any blanket statement!
I looked back at both of my posts. I said that ME and the women I know have not had a problem.
I did quite the opposite of making a "blanket" statement! I made an educated statement based on my OWN PERSONAL experience.
I personally would rather take the chance of my child biting me and giving her proper and natural nutrition than switch to formula and/or quit nursing.
I understand a woman has the right to do whatever she wants. If she cannot handle some baby teeth, she obviously has a right to quit nursing. I respect that choice. I don't agree with it, but that doesn't matter of course!
I have found that my actively feeding (i.e. hungry) baby will not bite with his SIX teeth. And I will continue to do so until he gives me signs that he is ready to be weaned.
Some books say 1 year, some more. It wasn't too long ago where BF was really looked down upon - and now it's the opposite - it's encouraged in many circles. I wonder how nutrition is provided to babies and young children in 3rd world countries where they cannot afford formula?
To each her own as long it is a physically and psychologically healthy choice for both mother and child.
Our pediatrician offered this advice ... he stops recommending BF when the child can ask for it.
Ladies...quit twisting my words....we are talking about children at the age of 5-7 still breastfeeding....not infants and toddlers and a normal age of weaning....nor did I ever say we tell homeless women they cannot nurse.....I said...They can receive food stamps for the child so the child can have milk, formula or "WHATEVER"....Ok...I'm outa here....sinse every word I say is twisted and misconstrued to further your plight.........I'm all for breast feeding....but not for an 8 year old....and that's my own "personal"(has nothing to do with where I work) Opinion....what do you "Think".....and by that I mean the 8 year old being breastfed????Please feel free to twist my words again
