Doctors don't know it all- Tim Tebow, the famous football player, was also supposed to have been aborted as his mom had to take some medication which doctors said would have harmed her unborn baby (Tim) very seriously.... now he's going to make millions as a healthy football player!

Doctors try to make the best decisions, but sometimes its up to a higher power whose outcomes for those is life. My dd doctor wanted to cut her open at 4 months and close her VSD, because they feared an early death. Good thing, I got more opinions and she is a healthy 16 year who beat her first doctors diagnosis.

It alway pays to get a second or even a thrid or fourth opinion for any medical problems. I don't care how much you trust your doctor, they can still make a wrong diagnosis.

My Dr. told me my daughter would have spina bifita from the AFP test. These tests are constantly false positives, and I brought this to my Dr's attention. She said that there was something definitely wrong with my daughter, the levels were off the charts. Lo and behold I have a beautiful healthy 6 year old daughter.

I had so many friends have false positives on some of those tests - we just declined them. We have no history of genetic problems and it just wasn't worth the stress. We knew we would accept whatever gift God gave us so why stress out.

That is why in Ireland (where I had the twins), they don't even do these tests unless you insist, because it can cause false worries. Plus, in Ireland abortion isn't allowed anyways.

I declined all of those tests... we weren't going to terminate anyway, so why worry over a false positive?
I have an acquaintance whose doctors pressured her to abort her baby who was "going to die within a few days after birth anyway" due to a heart defect. She had a heart transplant at a few months old, and now is seven years old. She still has some health problems, but she is certainly a lively, happy child, and brings her family much happiness.

When I had my first child 30 some years ago, I threw up so much until I broke out in red spots. They said I had the measles and should abort the baby. The blood test used at the time did show I had had the measles....but I was sure it was when I was younger. Since it could have been the measles, they didn't let me anywhere near my doctor's office so he could see me first hand. I decided to take a chance and didn't get the abortion. My son was born and has lived in perfect health.
I think doctors have a lot of knowledge, but when it comes to your own baby, mom instincts go a long way.

At one time doctors were all about saving lives. Now it's easier just to kill "it" and move on to an easier case.
