Attention Moms: I need your assistance
Since I've never been pregnant, maybe you can shed some light on this for me. I want to buy a pampering gift for my friend who is about 5 months along. When you were (or are) pregnant, what kind of things would you have liked to receive or did receive that were just for you? I'm looking to spend no more than $25 (I'm a little broke, but I want to do something nice for her).

I second the pedicure recommendation. After another month or so it will be hard for her to reach her feet! Someone gave me a gift cert. while I was pregnant and I absolutely loved it!

Hi Crash! I haven't been PG in 21 years, but echo the Pedicure gift certificate! You're such a great friend!

I get really uncomfortable having strangers touch my feet or anything else. My husband once got me a massage as a surprise and I returned it. Be careful she would really like this. Personally I would have liked a gift cert. to a book store.

I am sure lots of people would disagree with me, but I don't think I could go with a pedicure due to the chemicals, essential oils, etc. There's a long list of pregnancy "no, no's" and I think some essential oils are on them - supposedly they can be absorbed into the blood stream. Plus, many nail polishes have taboo ingredients in them like formaldehyde. http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/...-Possible.html For me, the stench of nail salons would have been too much, but then again I'm not a nail person.
If you do decide on a pedicure, I would make sure that the there is a specialist in the office who has given pedicures to pregnant women before.
I know others have mentioned pedicures and not foot massages, but I wanted to mention that I thought I remembered that there are spots on the foot that could trigger labor. Reflexology to induce labor

If you know your friend would enjoy a massage and has back pain, I would go with that gift. Especially if you can find a masseuse with reasonable prices who has provided massages to pregnant women (they don't have to have the special pregnancy table, you can just lay on your side.) Toward the end of my pregnancy I had gained so much weight and I had so much back pain that I needed to the chirorpractor's office for an adjustment and massage a couple of times per week.
A gift card to a bookstore would be great, too, especially if you are unsure if she'd appreciate a massage.

Returned a massage??? Next time send it this way!
Another vote for pedicure.....(but in all honesty the PP is correct. Some people don't like to be touched)
