I will never forget my experience being a military wife with a child while my husband served in Iraq. But I was one of the lucky ones b/c my child was a newborn & had no idea his daddy was gone.
I saw homecomings after homecomings & it was possible the most incredible thing to watch. I cannot explain to civilians what it feels like to have a child while your husband is literally riding over IEDs & people are hiding in weeds trying to kill him all hours of the day.
That can only be intensified to the highest degree for people who have children who comprehend who their daddy is & that he is gone.
You truly, truly see, right in that instant when they come home, what the most important things in this world are...and it's not money or cars or homes...
