I agree.. opinions are obviously not being changed so I don't really see that point in this thread anymore.

No.. it always seems to turn into a battle zone which reminds me of the religious vs atheist forum as well.
However, I get the feeling that most flaming comes from the pro-spankers than anti ones. It's that feeling of ''I'm ruling here because I said so'' type of sentiment.
The irony is they claimed to be well-behavior and respectful adults but how is flaming and their usage of unsophisticated words (followed by getting quickly into a defensive mode) mature? LOL....
You can call someone pathetic without using that same word. There are ways into it. If you want to insult, you can disagree with the idea without bashing the person.

Another thing is that parents who spank have to ask themselves what are they so afraid of. Do you seriously think they will end up in jail if you don't hit them? Jails are filled up with those who have been hit. Read the studies. The nicest kids I know, including my own, have parents who are respectful towards them, treat them with dignity and at the same are in charge.

Never spanked my two sons cause I used other ways to disipline them.
We tell our children it's not nice to hit others but we as adults hit our children. To me it sends a double mixed messages. That it's ok for us to hit although we preach to children that it's wrong.Practice what we preach.JMO

You are right. I without doubt, look down upon those who hit their children. I feel the same way about those who are mean to their pets. As far as I'm concerned, no one should ever hurt someone who cannot defend themselves.
