That is a claim I can agree with.

I totally forgot about that. Of course you get tons more from the sun. You would have to eat a bunch (you'd also be getting tons of cholesteral, fat and mercury) when you could get enough from the sun in 30 minutes.

I do know that those foods are very important in the right amount of course.

I didn't even think of these foods because I was trying to make the point that milk is fortified with vitamin d.

I'm way better at conveying my message with the spoken word. I have to work the typing thing.

Allergies are a relatively new phenomenon. How as humans would we ever survived if we sneezed, got itchy eyes and congested when trying to bring the crops in? It's only in recent history and the advent of big pharm that allergies have become such a problem.

Everyone gets sick, but for someone with a strong immune system the body can take care of itself. We don't want to take time off to rest, we want instant health! Why let the immune system take care of itself when we can take a pill and bounce back in a few days instead of weeks? But now those pesky "superbugs" are showing us the repercussions of not letting the body heal naturally.
You are making a huge blanket statement that is also filled with incredible arrogance.

Not everyone runs to the doctor the moment their child becomes ill.

Many allergies are not just itchy eyes & congestion.

And feeding your child a proper diet is not going to help them not go into shock if they are allergic to bee stings or fire ants.

Doctors, nurses & pharmacy companies are not the anti-christ.

Living one extreme or the other is far more dangerous to your child & their development.

I don't think all dr's and nurses are the anti-christ! That would make me spawn of the anti-christ! LOL

Jury is still out on pharm companies. Yes, some of the products they make can and do make our lives better. And some of their products kill and make our lives worse.

I only speak from personal experience within my own family. When our diets changed our seasonal allergies disappeared.

You have to be your own advocate. My husband almost died from Rocky Mtn. Spotted Fever. If I had not insisted of some forms of treatment he would have.

My son goes to the doctor when necessary. He's growing like a weed and swims 2-3 hours per day. If he was ill he could not keep up that level of intensity.

So true about being your own advocate. I think that was what you & I were both trying to say in our own way.

Docs, nurses & pharm companies have all added to our society. But, some have taken advantage on both sides of the fence & hence a lot of misinformation is out there.

I for one am not a big run to the doctor the moment my child sneezes. But I recognize when we do have to go.

I think when it comes to something like the flu, the shear annoyance of it drives people in droves to the doc in hope that maybe something can be given to them, when in fact, for most...its just rest, liquids & montioring...and b/w the parents getting sick & the kids getting sick & everyone getting cranky...it's just not fun.

My husband has been battling the flu for about a week now & is so overmedicating on the motrin & tylenol & sudafed & this & that...and he wonders why he is still sick

Yes, that was what I was trying to say. It takes a lot of time and effort to research an illness/condition and find out what works best for you and your family.

Sorry, about hubby! If he's anything like mine he won't rest when he needs too and it only makes things worse.

Are there guidelines for children over 10 yrs old regarding flu shots?

Were they advised to get the shots?

I hope they aren't "kicking themselves"!!!

Vaccinated and unvaccinated children die from the flu.

I've researched the CDC website in full. With their information it shows that even though WAY MORE children are getting the flu vaccine in the last 5 years, the number of flu deaths and hospitalizations from complications of HAVE NOT lowered.

It is only a coincidence that he was not vaccinated.

But I guess that when a child dies a parent does need to blame someone. But I'm sure that shall pass and they will realize the "lack of vaccine" wasn't to blame.

By the way, choosing not to vaccinate based on research and your own family's needs is NOT A SIN and I find it quite offensive.

And also, the article states that the reason he wasn't vaccinated was because HE forgot HIS permission slip.

Poor kid nonetheless
