Discipline..... Almost Undermined!
Had to take away dd's Nintendo DS today because of some behavior issues this morning. After all kinds of crying and carrying on, dh suggested (quietly, thankfully) to give back the video game once dd settled down.
OMG, I said! You NEVER go back on what you say! Giving the DS back would break one of the most important rules of parenting. You won't get taken seriously by the kids if you go back on your word (although I see this happen so often with kids of all ages). As hard as it is... stand your ground! It's easier to "cave" in the short run, but it hurts you majorly in the long run.

I could not agree more and the other half needs to learn that I think . My goodness if my other half had always underminded me I would not have two very respectfull grown men as sons now . Yes you stand your ground .

Thanks. The "other half" spent a good majority of the early years working crazy hours. He's learning, though!

I think it officially means
dh - dear husband
dd - dear daughter
Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm wrong, I've been misreading posts for years. Kind of like when you sing the wrong lyrics of songs and finally learn the right words!!!

I tend to cave when we are out in public! It's easy when you are at home and no one is giving you dirty looks from across the supermarket. That happened to me the other day. My son was acting up and not being very nice to anyone so I spoke to him sternly and this lady looked at me like she was ready to jump me! It was ridiculous.
Anyhow, kudos for standing your ground!
Oh and you are correct about DH and DD.
