They may objectively be doing damage, but they use the same psychological rationalizations and defense mechanisms that the rest of us use when we want to do something wrong. There is very rarely a subjective desire to cause harm on the part of these offenders.
Whether it be consentual on the boy's part or not, rape is also definde as: "violent destructive treatment: violent, destructive, or abusive treatment of something"

I would call destructive at the very least. I mean descructive as defined as: "meant to damage: intended to damage or hurt rather than be helpful or instructive"

Ok, to reword my thoughts for you...the behavior is self-destructive and she must have thought of that to some degree. It is violent, whether she admits it or not, and, being an adult having gone through much more training about these things than any of the rest of us "normal" people, she knows it. She did something, rather than be helpful or instructive as her job completes entitles, to/with a student of hers. She made a decision to possibly damage her career.

I unfortunatly know a few child molestors (no I do not spend any time around them). One set up with the mother and made a pact to only molest one girl but leave the other alone...that is until she hit puberty. Having known 4 far too well, there is an element of choice in there and three for sure could make calculated decisions and even went to great lengths to keep out of trouble, which three have thus far. **

It depends completely on the mental disability that the perp has. A sociopath can and will do things like this if they want to harm someone or control them. While they do it for themselves, often their planning involves harming the chidlren, mother or others as revenge. Others have other various sicknesses and have the reasoning you state. There are a lot of variables.

Think of it this way...You are happily married, love your spouse, and you are stuck spending a lot of time working with someone who is interested in you. You might find them attractive and be attractive to them. But because you love you husband, you do not act on it and you do what you can to remove yourself from the situation. To your point, people react on impulse all the time and do something they later regret in situations like these.

**Don't preach on me about my responsiblity to report them. They have been investigated and have "won."

That goes with the theory that a girl (of age) is asking to get raped because she is wearing a particular perfume or a bathing suit or whatever the "turn on" is for the assaliant.
OMG!!! Shoe fetishes....Foot fetishes...How does one escape!? "Your shoes are WAY to revealing!" "*GASP* Your feet are NAKED!?" What ever happened to those ugly 80's high top shoes??

It is not our job to know or teach our children about the depths of the minds of the various crazies out their. It is our job to teach our children how to identify red flags and avoid dangerous situations while mom and dad hold their breath until they return home safely.

Why would any parent in their right mind authorize a child to be in the home of a teacher alone? Did she offer to tutor him or something? Just one question in my head.

I'm betting that the poster you are waiting for a response from is going to come back saying a legal age is their cut off, but in my gut and in my opinion it will most likely be a lie.
I heard once that Match.com kicks off some 36,000 questionables a year...people who don't answer the questionare properly or seek out single parents with children.

I thought this topic was about morality? Morality does not take intelligence, it takes a choice to live a healthy life style, like those who shop at wal-mart, cause you know they don't "eat organic." How uneducated of them. Maybe the poor health has gone to their head.

And to the point of educations...as stated by another poster, teachers are given the tools to handle situations like this through education. But now I'm beginning to think that they need to put it on the back of cereal boxes...for the stores where people who hate walmart shop.

You want to know who is really sick? Posters who think she ought to be hanged, when there is absolutely no information about what she is alleged to have done, nor any evidence whatsoever that she has done anything at all.
Seriously?????

Methinks djacques much vaulted CJ degree (with a thesis on Megan's Law remember!) has probably been quite useful....life is much easier if you are aware of every tiny loophole that can be exploited to one's own advantage.
I second that!

Yes, but a person can be morally conscientious and completely wrong, if they are not in command of the facts.

A parent in the 1700s who subjected his child to a bleeding with leeches for their health was not morally deficient, he was just ignorant. Unfortunately, we're dealing with the same mentality today in many ways.
