Many people with pale skin get "base tans" or "starter tans" before summer starts, in order to get a little color and avoid all the Casper jokes, and then they wear sunblock outside to avoid sunburns.
It's not something I would do, but I don't find this to be a big deal. It's not like she got breast implants, sheesh.
I'm not freaking out about it, I just wouldn't take my daughter to a tanning salon! Even if this was a matter of getting a "base tan", where was Mom for the 16 minutes that daughter was baking??? Daughter looks to have pretty fair skin, don't you think Mom would have the brains to take that into consideration?????
Ultimately, a parent is in charge/responsible of their child, not a business. (yes it was negligent on their part). You dont let your 2 year old eat a piece of candy and then blame the manufacturer when they choke.
Be careful now....you're actually saying that a parent is responsible for the child that SHE brought in there?
Now there's a concept....personal responsiblility......it's just way too easy to blame the business.
Did you read the entire article? The Mother did not take her daughter there. She went on her own to a coin operated salon because the original place she was going to was closed.
Okay so after reading this I have come to the conclusion that I must be a very over-protective mother. Why is a 10 yr old out like this unsupervised? Did these 2 girls go to the fair by themselves? Where were the adults????? I didn't even know they had coin operated tanning salons.
Her mother, Sharon Hannaford, 34, said the incident happened during the Easter school holidays.
"I gave Kelly some money to go to the fair with her cousin but when they got there, it was closed," she said.
"As they came back, they saw the tanning salon and went in, more out of curiosity than anything."
Mrs Hannaford said Kelly spent £8 feeding the unmanned sunbed.
I need new eyes, new glasses, new brain...I swear that's not the same article I read when I posted but I see no dated amendment.
Scary Mom gets a pass. Unmanned tanning beds are asinine.
