I just got a phone call from the school to pick up my 9 son who was suspended for peeing on a tree during recess. IMO this is a bit too much for what he did.

Thoughts? I think this is way over the top and was going to go to the principal tomorrow because I just don't think it is right.....

If your son was an adult and did that he would be arrested. Best to learn at this age what inappropriate public behavior is.

I don't think it's to much for what he did. I am sure there is a bathroom at his school.

I don't think it's too much either. If the school did nothing then there would be other kids trying to do the same thing. It's just a way for the school to prevent a small situation from getting out of hand.

I agree with the person who said that if he were an adult, he would be arrested. It is not appropriate AT ALL to pee on a tree at school. There is no excuse for it.

Personally if your son did this while my daughter was on the playground, you would be MORE worried about my reaction then that of the school. Teach your kid to keep it in his pants until he is in the appropriate place, LIKE THE BATHROOM.

Eh, I don't think it's that big a deal. Yeah, he's wrong and he shouldn't have done it, but suspension? Really? For how long? I always thought boys got sent mixed signals about peeing anyway. I mean, a urinal isn't exactly private.

No a urinal isn't private, but I don't think that's the issue. Peeing on a tree which I assume is in the common area of the school is disgusting.

Urinating in public is an entirely different ballgame and is illegal. IMHO he's old enough to know better.
