Mine is OK with our cat, who is a loner, and will go sit with him if he is reading quietly and the other kids are asleep. Our dog, who is hyper and big, is not liked by him much at all. He won't hurt the animals but he really dislikes our dog, and likes the cat (probably because the cat is kind of like him).

Actually we have to keep our housepets away from them, which is kinda sad since they are good animals and because of the boys, don't have free range of the house, so people easily think we have no pets since they basically only live in the basement (which is really big). We have to go to them to play with em, etc. Personally I don't think its fair to the animals and we should get rid of them, but I'm alone on that stance in my house.

The boys don't seem to understand these are real living creatures, not toys, that can get hurt and will hurt them back.
I don't have kids yet (my husband and I just aren't sure if we should), but this is one of my fears! We love our cats, and it would be really, really difficult for us if we had kids that weren't nice to them.
