I guess I am the tail end of the Xers..... I am 31.... Just old enough to know all of the 80 and young enough to not know a thing about the 70's.....

I had b&w tv's in my house with the knobs on 'em... the remote was attached to a cord..... beta instead of vhs.... Nickelodeon was intoduced to MY Generation (Pinwheel spinwheel spinning around...look at my pinwheel and see what I found) and there was NO Nick Jr.... Kids Incorporated was the coolest thing on Saturday morning... I loved roller skating and there was no such thing as roller blades (forget wearing a helmet)... jelly bracelets... bangs that reached the ceiling... Jams (shorts that touched your knees)... high top sneakers with colorful balloon socks.... multiple scrunchies and I had every color of the rainbow.... banana clips.... tight rolling my pants (the tighter the better)... tucking my dad's over sized button down shirt in in the front and leaving it hang out in the back (that must have made my butt look great).... black denim button down fly jeans... hypercolor shirts that changed color when you got hot- why would you want people to know you were overly hot and sweaty????... Rainbow Bright.... alvin and chipmunks... Jem and the Holograms.... Loving You Barbie.... Punky Brewster.... Growing Pains, Facts of Life and Family Ties.....

This was fun... I could do this all day.... hahah

I'm somewhere between X and Y (late 70's) to parents who are Boomers. However, they are the youngest, one grandmother being 40 and the other 41 when they gave birth to them. So my grandparents were all part of the Interbellum Generation. My father grew up with both of his grandmothers in the house because that is what wives did after their husbands died.

I have long thought that my peers and I were left in the middle somewhere...which is strange because that is something I heard about my parents' generation as well (high school in the mid 70's). I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when Challenger happened, remember the hope of the Berlin wall falling and the fear of the first Iraq war (both around junior high), and remember seeing the Oklahoma bombing. I was home "sick" that morning, but came in at lunch to tell my friends, shaking, remember news analysts talking about the possibility of some middle eastern man named Osama being responsible.

On a lighter note, I was excited to get Atari, mad that my parents wouldn't buy a Nintedo, remember when cell phones were really big and bulky and only businessmen had them, and first really explored the internet my first year in college. Oh, and grunge and Nirvana...I now love the Lithium channel on Siruis!

Ah the 80's were fabulous, but hated the 90's.

My youngest sister was into Rainbow Bright,Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears
I was in high school-ready to graduate
I still loved to watch Growing Pains and Family Ties though! I believe I was Alex Keaton's biggest fan at some point.. hehehe.
I also had a huge crush on Ralph Macchio (yes-from the Karate Kid) but I saw him first on "Eight Is Enough", that was one of my fav shows!

I could probably do this all day too,but I've got to stop right now and go think about what to make for dinner!

How about a Swanson TV dinner (in the foil tray - remember how random corn kernels always ended up in the brownie?) followed by some Jiffy Pop while you watch a VHS movie?

Ok, this is like a walk down memory lane!!

NYMD67 - I remember the OP shorts! They are back in now and they are at Wal Mart! I was there with my daughter who is ten and she was commenting on all the cute clothes, and it was a bunch of OP stuff! I remember wearing the boys OP shorts because that was all they made. Well, now they make them a little more "girly" for girls, too!

lisdol - Dolphin shorts, wow, I forgot all about those. I had quite a few of those! I had a swimming party at my house once and a guy came that didn't have anything to wear - - - He was of very small stature, so I gave him my Dolphin shorts to wear! I told him no one would laugh - - - but we couldn't help it - He looked hilarious!! He was a good sport about it though!
