We will be going on vacation in August. The trip will include tons of walking, for a good 4-5 days. Think Disney type vacations.
I have a 5 year old soon to be 6. I know he won't be able to keep up with the walking. I also do not have the means to carry him when he gets tired.
Renting strollers gets pricey. So I was looking for an umbrella type stroller we could take along, but have not found one that can handle the weight needed. He is 50 lbs now. I am not looking to spend a ton of money.
Any suggestions on strollers or what have you done in this situation? Thank you.

Walked. Unless there are disability issues in play, a 5/6 year old can out walk me anyday.
Take breaks and drink water. I do not see why an (able bodied) six year old can't keep up with adults.
We did a Disney vacation when my son was 3 and he walked almost the entire time. We were careful to schedule breaks in. We did another Disney vacation when the kids were 9 and 10 and they had no trouble with the walking. They were so excited they didn't seem to care at all. We just scheduled "nap time" (mommy and daddy napped, they watched a movie) and pool time.
Short of a medical reason, I think you might not need a stroller.

We did Disney when he was 2 almost 3, and he rode in a stroller. We are doing four-five days of amusement parks. We are going with another family and do not have naps built into the schedule.
I am confident he can walk for a chunk of the day but do not want to get to day 2 or 3 and have him so exhausted that he is crying for me to carry him. He is getting too big for me to do that longer than a few minutes.
He is good to walk for awhile, but can't do all day at an amusement park type place. I physically cannot carry him.
I'm not trying to pick on you - but why do you have to A) walk all day (everyone needs a break or you'll all have blisters and burn yourselves out) and B) why can't he walk as long as you? If there's a reason I think you need to say what it is or you're going to have a long row to hoe on this topic.
And if course you can't carry him! He's six. Why would that be an option?
My four and six year olds were perfectly fine walking all over NYC a few months ago. And we would leave the hotel by 8am and return around 10pm. As long as it's a place where they'll be fascinated, they'll be fine.
