Kid's Chores?
Now that it's summer, I've got to re-vamp the chore list....what are the chores your kids do?

Well, my kids are 15 and 18. Not too much luck finding jobs this year. 18 yo is doing a variety of odd-jobs and babysitting - (not enough to fund her school year though)..I am at work most days so I do expect to come home to a relatively clean house. If I see above and beyond work, they might get some cash out of the deal. I expect:
dishwasher loaded/unloaded
kitchen cleaned up
floors/swept or vacuumed depending
their bathroom clean as well as the guest bathroom
rooms reasonably clean
occasional laundry
yard work to include mowing/weeding/scooping after the dog
walk the dog
I also try to keep a "wish list" around if someone is looking for extra cash (clean garage; scrape peeling paint off the deck railing/re-paint deck railing, wash screens/windows/window tracks).....
If I am at work all day, there is no reason for me to come home to a dirty house. They are actually really good about it and do stuff without me nagging at them. They know I appreciate it and am more likely to cart them around later or lend the car if I am in a good mood!

Ages 5 and 7:
pick up pine cones
water garden
set table for dinner and clear table
keep rooms fairly clean
vacuum playroom
windex windows
picking up the pine cones is what provides them with ice cream truck money. They receive one cent per pine cone.

In the summer the kids are pretty much responsible for keeping the entire house clean. We generally assign them a level of the house and they have to keep that level clean. They pick a new level each week so it rotates. This summer we have incorporated that they have to cook dinner each night too. They are 16 and 14 (twins) and more then capable of doing that.

Both have to keep their rooms clean, shower and brush teeth daily.
One keeps the kitchen clean at all times.
One keeps bathroom clean and keeps kitchen floor swept and mopped.
One also helps with the 2 year old changing diapers and such.
These are their contributions to the familyi.

clean room, load/unload dishwasher, making himself remember personal hygiene things to do in morning and evenings. Hard to get someone mentally disabled to do too much without drama involved.
Sort and fold laundry, too.

My 7 yr old cleans his room, clears the table before and after dinner, helps cook dinner, and tidies up any mess he makes throughout the house. These are things I expect him to do because he is a part of this family. He also sweeps, mops, wipes, vacuums for money if he is so inclined to earn cash for toys.
My 2 yr old "helps" with laundry by sorting and picks up after himself.
