A light spank on the tush is not abuse, far from it. And if more people approached this there would be less kids thinking they can control their parents. IMO

Not really. Your assuming every child is an automoton that all act and behave exactly the same Some kids (and former kids) only learn(ed) to fear the parents from getting spanked. The spanking doesn't deter them from their goal, only to be more sneaky about getting their mission accomplished (the determined kids that is)

I do have to note that the only people receiving spankings are the ones not big enough to hit you back and defend themselves. Its easy to overpower a small person, but when that person is a teenager and can hit back, the spankings seem to decrease in frequency

I'd say if your still feeling the need to spank at that point that it probly isn't doing much good How would you like it if your boss or a cop smacked you in the butt every time you did an infraction? It doesn't work.

And many others don't. You're also assuming that children are automatons, you just think the programming is different.

Sometimes, but not always. I was bigger than my mother by the time I was 13, but I still got spankings.

Depends what they look like, lol. But seriously, adults are still subject to corporal punishment in the judicial systems of a number of countries, and those countries are generally quite satisfied with the results. Obviously it "works", at least enough of the time to satisfy them.

I know J & K got themselves into this but honestly feel they don't deserve to have their privacy invaded to this degree.

The stress must be incredible.

if she wouldnt have had the publicity, she probably wouldnt have the money and the 24 acres. invasion of privacy is the price celebs pay. most seem to think its worth it. most would feel abandoned if no one really cared what they did anymore. see my point? they complain about it, but enjoy the limelight, its an ego thing.

a pat on the tush isnt child abuse. of course id want to see no harm come to her brady bunch, but i could care less what she does or what her life is like. ive never cared about gossip of the rich and infamous, but it seems to sell alot of magazines...why i dont know. who are the role models of today...

Agreed.
And some kids have a high threshold for pain, and are smart enough to know that adults aren't really allowed to hurt them (ie, bruising, broken bones, etc).
I've seen kids flat out taunting parents who attempt to physically discipline them, especially when spanking is a frequently used means of discipline and has been used over a long period of time. Kids end up just finding it laughable.

The 'Table for 12' dad is a police officer--I wonder how he handles the celebrity. I would assume he hasn't had the same degree of interest. It will be interesting to compare scenarios if the other reality families find themselves in a similar position.

Some may be more reluctant to sign TLC contracts.

I couldn't agree more! The media attention is just feeding Kates ego. And a spanking IS NOT child abuse!

The media only loves someone so long....and then they pick them apart like vultures.

(If I had that many kids....I would have a paddle handy ALL the time.....media or not.)
