There are many children out there who do not think twice about running off, running into traffic, wandering off etc. I would rather see a child with a "leash" on any day over reading about a child that was run over by a car, picked up by some pervert etc.

I never used one for my own children, but looking back I wish I had. Both of my children were typical kids - they would run off with me looking right at them. I do use one for my grandson (which is actually a cute little monkey backpack that "hugs" him while he walks). I'd rather he be safe and alive until he is old enough to understand danger and consequences. I don't judge - whatever works for you as a parent, or grandparent, is good enough for me.

Understandable, if used improperly.

myrap99, thank you for explaining. My grandson is autistic and unless people have been around these children they can't understand why you have to be so vigilent, every minute. Their brains are wired different than most of us, it's better to be safe than sorry............
