This is funny to me because my so who just turned 8 is 5'2' , and I'm sure he will be taller then me at 5'8" in no time! And I do think it will be kind of strange to be looking up at him!

My son is 11 and almost as tall as I am. My sister's 2 oldest look down on her now...!

Still, good things come in small packages and your mom will always be your mom. One look is enough to make any of them stop in their tracks!

Funny, yet sad story.

I believe I was about 10, and, was taller than both my biological mother and stepfather at that time. I also had, even then, a solid 30lbs plus on my step father.

I misbehaved or something, and my mom spanked me. In the middle, I actually started laughing, because, not only did it not hurt, but, it was comical to me.

What did my mom do? She was so p'od, she grabbed me by the shoulder to get my head turned around, and punched me in the jaw. I grabbed my jaw and said "Ow"

That was the last time I was disciplined with "force"

I'm not a parent but I can relate. Refereeing kids that tower over you and you having to tell them what to do can be intimidating but you have to let them know who's the boss before they run the show.

I had the same situation with my SS at 12yrs when he suddenly sprouted and I found myself looking up to him .... during a disagreement he took a step towards me and I knew this had to be nipped in the bud before he figured out that he could use his size to intimidate. I calmly informed him to first back-up quick, then proceded to inform him that I did not care if I had to stand on a chair and hit him in the head with a frying pan, he was going to listen - all 6" of him and that he may be bigger then me, but I was meaner. He never did it again. Most of the time though he just laughs because you no longer worry them when they can pick you up and move you !!!!
