I don't like to see boys in the girls room either. If you have that many, go into the mens room with them. Grown up men will wait.
How old is too old- if they are walking.
That is an insane response, and the guy who said that to the OP, was insane as well.
No child should go into a restroom alone, and I know that was not what you were saying, but people should not have an issue with young boys in a restroom with a caregiver, if you had have an issue with it, then you should be the one to wait outside, not vice-versa.

Yes, that response was insane! I can imagine walking in with my son and saying "Sorry, but he has to go". NOT!
I have my son 9 and my daughter 7. Depending on where we are, I will let my son go in the men's room by himself while I stand outside. When he was younger he ALWAYS came in with me period. If someone had a problem with it, too bad. Your child's safety is more important than someone's feelings.
I will take my boys into the ladies restroom until they are 6 or 7. They have to come inside the stall with me when they are small enough and when they are too big they have to stand right outside the stall so I can see their feet. This is mostly to make sure they aren't running around acting like fools! My DH took our DD into the ladies room when she was smaller because he said the men's rooms were disgusting. He would make sure no one was in there first but if she couldn't wait he would open the door slightly and announce that he was coming in with his daughter and if anyone objected please speak up now. No one ever did.
I think the man in the OP overreacted a bit, but on the other hand I guess if the boys were running around all over the restroom causing a ruckus I could see the little girls concern.
I wouldnt give him another thought - I do and will continue to take my son into the ladies room with me... Hello they have stalls the boy only gets to see a bunch of women washing thier hands - its no big deal..
I don't have boys, but I don't object to seeing boys in the women's restroom with their mothers.
Recently, I was in a women's restroom and a mom poked her head in the door and asked if I minded if she brought her son in. I said it was fine. I was surprised to see that her son was taller than she was! He required assistance with using the bathroom though because of a disability.
I had an experience the other day that was really frustrating and brought to mind a question. I was in the womens' restroom at a public park with my two five year old boys and my 2 year old boy. A young girl, who was maybe 8, went outside and told her father who was waiting for her that there were boys in the restroom and she was afraid. When we came out, the father confronted me about my boys being in the womens' room...saying something to the effect of "the sign says women, they ought not be in there". They are only 5, sir, I said. He proceeded to say "I don't care how old they are, they aren't allowed in there." Which brings up the question...how old is too old to have boys go into the womens room with mom? I really don't feel safe sending them into the mens room unattended at their current age....not knowing who is in there (a pedophile, who knows?)...and also not being able to go in if they should need my help at some point.
Don't pay him any mind he was just talking nonsense. Boys can go to the women's bathroom accompanied by their mom. So, do not listen to that guy
