I hear you. I am home all day and it's still a wreck. I worked less when I had a job. I could justify saying "Leave it. Who cares?"

I will echo everyone else, look into his school. If he is special ed, I know they almost always need assistants. I am a teacher and I drive a Special Needs bus. I took this job because I want to be on my son's schedule. I could make more money elsewhere but I have chosen to be on my child schedule.
As far as the bus goes... I can tell you that the Special Needs bus is far safer than any other bus. We are required by law to have a Safety Assistant on the bus with us. Their job is to take care of the kids while we are driving. Our buses are smaller and have less kids. We have special training to deal with our special kids. Look into the bus even if you don't want to work in the school.

No, he'd be on the regular bus. His special needs are Aspergers and some physical but nothing major...he just has processing problems.

You know, this is so true. THe more you're IN your home (and the kids) the harder it is to keep it picked up. We should banish all debate of stay-at-home housekeeping vs work-outside houskeeping challenges.

I always worked part time - nights - from when the children were small. That way, I was in the house for my children, I still brought some money in and when I needed to get away - I did! To Work. Change is as good as a rest! I would come home after a night shift - tired, but so happy and glad to see my children and be with them. Also, my bank account was happy too and my hubby didn't expect a perfect house (which he might if I didn't work at all).

I am now in your position; the kids are both at school and I am saying, "now what?" I want a flexible position but I know it will stress me out yet I know it will be good for me to get back into working, ugh. Of course this is only the first week of school and next week I will start going to the school to volunteer in their classrooms. Working at school intrigued, but I checked into our school district and our requirements include a specific teaching certificate for subbing even with a 4 yr degree, yowza. GOod luck to all of us!!!!
