She likes very unique names.
Can anyone help out here?

Thanks in advance!
You just had to ask didn't ya? Did you see all the responses? when you could have just done a google for the type of names you guys want? Biblical, Historic, Ethnic, Religious? Mythical was my choice for my son, Damon. From the Greek story of Damon and Pythias..."friend of mankind"...he gave up himself as hostage to free his soldier-warrior partner? i believe. I gotta look it up again; hell, have the C.R.S. Disease...good luck and CONGRATS gramma.

Please, people, when coming up with your "unique" names, think of the kid who will have to endure at least 12 years of school. Giving your kid a dumb name could mean day after day of being made fun of by other kids. Although there are so many parents pulling names out of their arses these days that maybe the kids with normal names will be the minority (just like kids with married, two-parent households with no step-brothers or sisters).

My opinion is if you want to use on of these "unique" names, why not just get a dog or cat?

Congratulations on the grandchild. My take is that unique (to the parents they may be unique, to the rest of society they are silly or off putting) names are no favor to a child. Then when the kid grows up they have to deal with their unique names, i.e., putting them on their resume and having the resume thown out immediately. Just my .02 cents, but why even consider doing something that would hold a kid back?

Default My 2 cents...

I love unique names but on the other hand, you have to think that the child will be the one coping with this unique, sometimes 'weird' name for the rest of his life...

I heard a name a few months ago...it was sooo weird that 5 min. later I couldn't remember it... and I thought ... poor kid... he is 'sentenced' to spell his name (and it was a long name) for the rest of his life... what a bummer.

My daughter is expecting this Fall... and her bf last name is English, but she wants a 'typical' French name so that there won't be any mistake that the child is French (well bilingual).

I loved Delphine... but her bf doesn't like it too much.
