Default name sets a pattern of childs personality, thinking patterns, and nature

We have been doing research on the effects names have on people. It's interesting that there is evidence that a well balanced name sets in motion a pattern of constructive qualities of intelligence that will be the foundation of a childs personality, thinking patterns, and nature.

These studies say the last name must be combined with the first name, as it creates an important total name influence when combined with the first name.

There is even a relationship to a persons health in their name.

Could anyone help me with a baby boy first and middle name that are well balanced with the last name Deever?

Thanks for your help!

I'm curious as to how a name an infant doesn't understand and does not have any cultural awareness of arranges their developing neural patterns.

Is there any supporting evidence?

How does it work? Is it the feedback from people they encounter? Their reactions to the name?

- Look up the meaning of the name. You'd be surprised, some meanings are quite silly

- Name him after someone you admire -- Reagan? Woodrow Wilson? MacArthur? Ghandi? A family hero? Avoid pop culture celebrities -- tre tacky.

- Name him something that will look good on a resume

- Make sure the initials don't spell out something silly like: Brent Alexander Deever (B.A.D.) Imagine seeing that on a real estate contract a hundred times -- LOL!

- Give him a name that you think describes him. Does he look like a Charles or more like a Michael? Hint: look at his Dad or yourself, he'll probably end up looking like one of you.

- Give him a name you think he'll like and he won't be asking you a million times why he was given such a strange name when he's six years old.

- Avoid pretentious names -- so as not to offend, I won't mention specific names, but you know, the preppy ones. I just roll my eyes whenever I hear those names being blurted out at the toy aisle in Target.

- Avoid names that could make him an easy teasing target. You know, names that rhyme with something gross or funny?

- Do some geneaological research to see if there's a cool family name a couple of generations back that you'd like him to have.

I like the name William. I wanted it for our son but my husband vetoed it.

William Deever and Will Deever both sound nice. So do Daniel or Dan Deever. Alliteration is nice. Timothy Deever? Not too many Tims running around anymore. Do you want something classic and more common, or something unusual?

For a middle name, I'd choose a family name or one that has special significance. If you still are out of ideas, go with a classic. Joseph is nice. William Joseph Deever, Daniel Joseph Deever.

Just out of curiosity, have you identified the issues and weaknesses/strengths of the family (Deever)?

William was our first choice but we keep changing our minds.

I get it!

Since the OP seems to place so much stock in the importance of names, they need to consider a first name that will counterbalance any negative aspects of the last name Deever.

Right?

First, congratulations on the upcoming baby! I'm sure he will be lucky to have a dad who is taking the job seriously from before the beginning.

Back when my son was born, we made use of a book called "The Name Game". I'm sure it's out of print now, but you can probably score it from a used book store or amazon.com.

The basis of the book was that people have preconceived notions of other people's characteristics, based on their names alone. Just as you say, perception then becomes reality, in many cases.

The author surveyed a sizable cross-section of Americans, asking for their opinions on the health, athletic ability, intelligence, honesty, etc. of an unknown person named John, Bill, Larry, Mary, Emily, etc. He then presented a table with maybe a thousand or more names, all with corresponding scores for various attributes. (If I recall, James or maybe Andrew ended up with the top overall ranking, although we went another direction.)

One more thing to be aware of - make sure the first and last names don't run together. In your case, avoid a first name ending in "d" or "t".

For example, if you choose "Ward Deever", it will sound like "War Deever". "Kurt Deever" will have to be pronounced like "Kurt..(pause) ... Deever". That will get annoying over a lifetime. Either go with an unrelated ending consonant or (even better) an ending vowel. "Micheal Deever" - no problem. "Larry Deever" - again, no problem.

Finally, don't give your kid an unusual middle name. Just don't. I have an ordinary middle name and was very happy to have it while all my schoolmates were being tormented for their "legacy" middle names.
