Yeah Irish the word around here is

"is it Mommy clean"

When my kids would ask for some big whopper, my reply tongue-in-cheek is "would you like a pony with that?". They'd immediately understand that they're asking for the moon....and about as likely to get it.

I have 4 age 13 ,8 ,2, and 6 months. With the first I discovered by total accident when he got hurt at the ripe old age of 3. He started to leak a little just a scrape. Anyway to get him to quiet down so I could look I informed him (It only hurts, til the pain goes away) It actually worked. And to this day him and his 8 year old sister tell there friends this when they get banged up on bikes etc. They also use it on the 2 year old. And yup he stops crying, and will laugh, and run, and play. Of course they do Know that you can't say it, when one is truly hurt. But For the minor stuff it worked wonders on all of them.

I am also excited about the response i have recieved keep em coming

myson loves to be a daredevil
soooo....
when we don't want him to do something we say...

Kevin please don't do that or you will get hurt
now that I have warned you if you decide to do it anyway and you DO get hurt I am going to laugh really loud and call everyone to let them know

It usually works because of the embarrassment factor
it's bad enoguh to get hurt but to have mom laugh at you about it sucks

When my 14 year old was younger he would always say 'mom, can me n' [name] have a cookie' I would say who is me n'? Is he a new friend of yours?

To this day Me n' comes for visits and my other two kids have him for a friend as well!

They all know very well how to say Me AND! I don't put up with lazy talk!

One my daddy used on me and my sister:
(when we were pouting)
He would ask "Can we ride to Charlotte on that lower lip"

At the time, we lived in Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC was just far enough away to get a giggle.

One my grandmother pulled on my daddy: He was fussing about turning 40...just moaning and groaning over it. She got fed up and snapped back at him: How do you think I feel with a SON who is 40???? He hasn't complained about his age since. Liz

When one of my boys tries to rat out the other I say:

"Jack, if the sentence starts with Ryan, I DON'T want to hear it!"

I go one further with this one. When the boys are being rough or reckless and give me a hard time when I tell them to stop before one of them gets hurt I say, "Well fine if you want to split your head open go ahead, just don't expect me to spend my evening at the ER with you getting stiched back up!" Works every time!
