I am always teaching my kids all about seat belts, I just happen to see this wonderful British TV ad that it does really hit the point, I have forwarded to all my kids...
The Best Seat belt (http://www.beauty-beauty.com/seatbelt - broken link)
My husband is a certified car seat technician--he really can't stand it when he sees a child improperly restrained, or not at all.
There was an accident near us last week, an SUV hit the guard rail while changing highways--no bad weather--and a 3 year old was ejected from the vehicle. All 3 adults were wearing their seat belts. The child wasn't restrained in any way. It really makes you think.
there was an accident this weekend in my community- 17 year old thrown from car-is in coma- not doing well- apparently wasn't wearing seatbelt- can't believe it- kids have grown up putting them on-Please remind your kids to wear them all the time-it can save your life!!!
Saw a 3 week old baby brought into the ER after being thrown from the vehicle due to improper belting. I'll never forget the sound of the cry. It cannot be reinforced enough.
I was in a rollover accident (we rolled three or four times, according to witnesses) with my children when they were 4 and 2. The contents of the car were spread in probably a 40-foot circle (my purse, their sippy cups, etc). Thankfully, I was using our carseats properly, and the kids were virtually scratch-free (I say virtually because they had a few minor scratches from broken glass and bruising from their harness clips on their chests). I was wearing my seatbelt and had a few minor injuries (whiplash, a badly sprained wrist, a cut on my ankle). The paramedics who came said that if my kids were not properly restrained, they would have been strewn around like my belongings.
Please, please, please restrain your children (and yourself) properly EVERY SINGLE TIME you go out. I am a safe driver, and the accident happened on a sunny day at 10:00 in the morning less than a mile from our house. A teenager blew through a stopsign and hit us. It can happen at any time.
