We have raised our kids and now have a granddaughter. I was wondering if any of you have found a good book on discipline I could share with my daughter?
We used "Dare to Discipline" by Dr. Dobson. Not sure if thats still around or maybe there's even a revised addition.

The New Six-Point Plan for Raising Happy, Healthy Children by John Rosemond child psychologist. has 2 kids of his own, and recently became a grandparent. advocates for parents to be the parent instead of the understanding best friend. available on Amazon, I am sure. love him and read his column religiously.

I love Dobson's Dare To Discipline. Another really good one is "Personality Plus for Parents". The Love and Logic books are good but really take A LOT of patience and consistency.

How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber

I agree..anything by John Rosemond. He advocates that the parents rule the home, not the children.

Great pick, Goddess!
I love John Rosemond's books.
For some simple, effective discipline, I'd also pick up 123 Magic. It worked miracles in my children.

Default Likes Dobson...

I always liked Dobson. Another Dobson favorite- "The Strong-Willed Child." Hint-in the sense, he uses the term, they are all strong-willed.

I read John Rosemond's books when I first became a stepmom...I treated it as my parenting manual. You know the one they forget to give you when you get married?????

Anyway, my favorite part of his book was:
Rosemond's Bill of Rights for Children (http://www.rosemond.com/index.php?action=website-view&WebSiteID=389&WebPageID=9896 - broken link)

Believe me, my daughter heard *I said so* very frequently! Liz
